The one from another land
As I sit and wander through my mind allowing it to take me into self pity and doubt, I pull myself out and remember the faces in places I’ve been that had nothing to give and no way to get what I forget I’m blessed with. Big eyes in small faces stuck into hopeless situations on a daily basis and I cry and wonder why I can’t find a job to pay rent with, when babies are born on broken concrete, no beds to rest small baby heads upon no food to feed tiny bodies to give strength for another breath. As I worry how to put gas in my car those living far away fear the dawning of another day and wonder if they’ll exist to see the night flight of the sun. As I try to choose what shoes to put on what outfit matches, those with no home, no shelter sit ‘pon da road to burn and swelter in muddy patches under the sun wondering if the one from another land remembers.
